  • Local school children do sponsored bike ride

  • Three local kids from Cheslyn Hay High School, Lewis Cocker, Jordan Wright and Jacob Fradgely, have been on a sponsored bike ride in aid of the RSPCA. They were doing the event as part of their GCSE Coursework for Citizenship. Lewis told us that "we had a lot of charities to choose from, but we decided to do it for the RSPCA because we all own animals and we like them. We decided that we were going to do a bike ride because it was a thing that we all like doing and we know our way around quite well. We managed to go around chase water 5 times in a day."

We would like to thank the boys and look forward to finding out the total they raised for their efforts.

  • Sponsored Walk and Run

  • A group of Walsall people got together and decided to do a sponsored walk in aid of the RSPCA Walsall. A work collegue then also decided to dedicate his 10k run to the RSPCA as well. The collegues all work at Cooke Brothers in Aldridge. They walked from Aldridge to Walsall, to Darlaston and back again. They got sponsorship from friends, family and co-workers and as a gesture of goodwill the Cooke Brothers company also donated £100. Altogether the group raised a whopping £645! We would like to say a huge thanks to the sponsored walkers who were Deborah Rowley, Yvette Barker, Joanne and Hannah Beard, and the 10k runner who was James Spiers.

This picture shows the group (except Hannah) with Lucy Hayreh of the RSPCA collecting the cheque.

  • Continued Free Cat Neutering.
lastest image

Due to the success of our neutering campaigns we are extending our offers for cats, dogs, and rabbits throughout 2008. Free cat neutering for those on benefits will continue, and there are schemes for low cost dog and rabbit neutering. For those in receipt of Tax Credits that feel they need help, there are also schemes available. See our subsidised schemes page for further details.

  • Appeal for Foster Homes

We are launching an appeal for new homes in the Walsall area.  The RSPCA Walsall branch is not fortunate enough to have an animal  centre, so rehoming is very difficult for us.  We struggle to take in animals that need care due to a lack of spaces with fosterers.  Despite this we still manage to help
scores of animals every year through the dedication of our fosterers.  This scheme is prospering for rabbits and guinea pigs, but we are really struggling with our cat and dog fostering.

We urgently need people to come forward to foster for us.  It is basically like looking after your own pet except we pay the vets bills and give you all the supplies you need.  We check all the homes the animals will go to, so you only need to care for the  animal and then do the adoption procedure with the
new owners.  To foster for us you need to be in the Walsall area, have some knowledge of the animal you would like to foster and be at home part of the working day for dogs and cats.  Please help us if you are in this position.  Call Lucy on 01543 454571 for more information.
