About RSPCA Walsall

Like every other RSPCA branch in England and Wales, the Walsall and District Branch is an separate registered charity to the National RSPCA. We are totally self funding , which means that all the money we spend on animals within the Walsall area, must be raised by us in the Walsall area. The Branch is run by a committee of trustee's who oversee the branch activities. There are no paid members of staff within the branch, everyone works on a voluntary basis.

The committee of 2007/2008 consists of 8 trustee's who meet on a regular basis to discuss the running of the branch. Anyone who is an RSPCA member can apply to join the committee as long as they have a genuine love of animals and the motivation to get involved and help.

Our volunteers are the backbone of the branch and without them, the branch could not function.

Main Activities

  • Foster Care. Because we do not have an animal centre at Walsall, all of our animals are in foster care. We rely 100% on volunteers to look after our animals until they get a new home.

  • Campaigning. We need people to aid us in our campaigning work. We campaign on national and local issues such as letter writing to councils or companies, and also by distributing educational material to local libraries and public places.

  • Fundraising. All our fundraising work is done by a group of volunteers in their spare time. Fundraising activities include tin shakes at supermarkets, craft stalls and fundraisers at places like Saddlers Shopping Centre.

  • Home Visits. We are constantly looking for volunteers to train to perform home visits with prospective adopters of our animals. We always perform a home visit prior to any animal being rehomed, so home visitors are vital to the branch.
  • Trustees.  As mentioned above, our committee of trustees run the branch and we are always looking for more people to become involved in this side of the branch work.
